Who we are

We (referred to as "we", "us" or "our") are the Scandinavian Tourist Board or STB as we are more popularly known - a joint initiative by the national tourist boards of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. STB is responsible for promoting Scandinavia and Scandinavian tourism products in the Asia-Pacific markets, with particular emphasis on the major markets of Japan, China and Australia and a focus approach to the promising markets of Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Thailand.

The www.visitscandinavia.com.au website is owned by the Scandinavian Tourist Board and its cooperating partners for the purpose of providing information of and promoting travelling and tourism to Scandinavia (Sweden, Denmark & Norway).

About these terms and conditions

"You" are the user and/or browser of our website. You are reading the terms and conditions for use of the The Scandinavian Tourist Board website. They make a legally binding contract between you and us. Your acceptance of the terms and conditions is made by you browsing our website and is dated to your first use of the website. If you do not accept the terms and conditions or any part of them you should stop using our website immediately.

We reserve the right to make changes to these terms and conditions from time to time which will take effect from the date of posting on the website. Your continued use of the site will mark your acceptance of any changes to the terms and conditions.

The Scandinavian Tourist board offers royalty free images that are free of charge. However, The Scandinavian Tourist Board does not have access to our own image bank and the Australian tourism industry needs to liaise with the three national tourist boards’ imagebanks, visitsweden, visitdenmark and visitnorway and follow their copyright laws. The Scandinavian Tourist Board provides links to their registration process, but is not responsible in any way for how the images are used.

We may publish images or text in which the copyright is not owned by us. Where this is done, and where practicable, we acknowledge the copyright owner.

Extracts and prints may be printed or downloaded from this site for information and/or personal use. The information on this site may not be modified in any way.

In other words, information that simply relates to you as a 'person' and not as an individual, solely for statistical purposes. Terms and Conditions - ABBA Quiz Promotion

Terms and Conditions of Entry for The Scandinavian Tourist Board’s "ABBA Quiz” Promotion

1. Information on how to enter and prize details form part of these conditions. Entry into this Promotion is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions of entry.

2. The promoter of the Competition is (Carpe Diem Event Management pty ltd) (55 113 585 934) of (Lvl 1, 16 Foster Street Surry Hills, NSW 2010, Sydney) trading as Carpe Diem (‘Carpe Diem’) acting on behalf of (Scandinavian Tourist Board). ("Promoter").

3. The Promotion will be open from 9:00 am Australian Eastern Standard Time ("AEST") on July 4, 2008 and will continue until 11:59 pm AEST on 19 September 2008 ("Promotion Period").

4. Entry is open to Australian Retail Travel Agents only. The entry is not open to management, employees or contractors of the Promoter and other agencies, firms or companies associated with the Promotion (including suppliers of prizes), and their immediate families ("Eligible Entrants").

5. To enter and be eligible to win, Eligible Entrants must, during the Promotion Period:(a) go to the STB Australia website at www.visitscandinavia.com.au.com/ ("Website");

(b) click on the Abba Page link;

(c) answer the four outlined questions

  1. ABBA’s first Tour of Europe started out in Denmark. When and where did ABBA give this concert?
  2. Anni-Frid is from Norway – but where in Norway is she born?
  3. With what song did ABBA win Melodifestivalen in Sweden and later the Eurovision Song Contest grand final in United Kingdom in 1974?
  4. In four lines or less, create your own ABBA chorus to your favorite Abba song

("Entry Question");(d) read the terms & conditions and (e) subscribe to STB’s newsletter with required personal information including name, address, phone number and email address, (together, "Eligible Entry")

6. One entry per Eligible Entrant will be accepted. All Eligible Entries will be assessed in the judging process.

7. Judging of all Eligible Entries received during the Promotion Period will take place at 10:00 am AEST on September 22 2008 ("Judging Date"). The judging will take place at Lvl 1 16 Foster street Surry Hills NSW 2010. Judging will be conducted by representatives of the Promoter. This is a game of skill only and chance plays no part in determining the winner.

8. The Eligible Entrant who has the most creative and original answer to the Entry Questions as determined by the judges will receive from the Promoter:(a) two return Economy class tickets to Stockholm, Sweden;(b) two tickets to the ABBA museum;(c) three nights accommodation for two persons sharing in a three star hotel of the Promoter's choice,(together, the "Prize”).(d)Two Stockholm Cards which give you free access to some sights, activities & public transport as per outlined terms & conditions.

9. The total Prize pool is valued at up to $ 8,000.00, inclusive of GST.

10. The travel that comprises the Prize must occur on between June 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009. The tickets must be completed and booked by 31 December 2008. Tickets subject to availability.

11. The Prize winner (and their guest) must hold a valid passport in order to take the Prize and must obtain any necessary visas to travel. Prize flights must leave and return to the same capital city. Prize flights and flight times are subject to availability and are at the discretion of the Promoter. The airline and hotel utilised in the travel component of the Prize are at the discretion of the Promoter.

12. The Prize is not transferable and is not exchangeable or redeemable for cash. All other costs associated with the Prize are the responsibility of the winner (including but not limited to passports, visas, transfers, spending money, meals, taxes and insurance, other than as mentioned). It is a condition of taking the Prize that the winner and their guest obtain travel insurance. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any tax liabilities that may arise from winning a prize and has to be paid by the winner. All flights which form part of the prize are ineligible for points/miles benefits of any airline loyalty program.

13. If the Promoter is unable to provide the winner with the nominated prize, the Promoter reserves the right to supply an alternative prize of similar monetary value.

14. The Prize winners will be notified by telephone and or email on 23 September 2008 and the winners' name will be published on the http://www.visitscandinavia.com/ Website on 23 September 2008. Any prizes which have not been claimed by 24 September 2008 will be distributed at the Promoter's absolute discretion.

15. The Prize will be delivered to the winner's email address, as provided in the Eligible Entry.

16. The Promoter shall not be liable for any Prize that may be lost, stolen, forged, damaged or tampered with in any way before it reaches the winner.

Minors

17. If a prize winner is under the age of 18 years, the prize will be awarded to their parent or legal guardian. Minors may use the prize, but they must be accompanied by a person over 18 years when doing so, and have consent from their parent or legal guardian (which the Promoter may request in writing).

18. If a prize winner's guest is under the age of 18 years, they must have consent from their parent or legal guardian (which the Promoter may request in writing) to take the Prize.

19. A parental or guardian consent referred to in these terms must:(a) consent to the matters referred to in these terms and conditions; and(b) include the words "in consideration of Telstra agreeing to admit the entrant into this Promotion, [name of Parent or Guardian] agrees to be bound by the terms of entry into the Promotion".

20. The Prize winner and their guest may be required to sign a release and indemnity form in favour of the Promoter and return the document to the Promoter prior to taking their prize.

21. The judges' decision is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into. Incomplete, illegible and incorrect entries or entries containing offensive or defamatory comments, or which breach any law or infringe any third party rights, including intellectual property rights, are not eligible to win.

22. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any entries not received for any reason during the Promotion Period. Entries will be deemed to be accepted at the time of receipt and not at the time of transmission. No responsibility will be taken for lost, late or misdirected entries. The Promoter is not responsible for technical difficulties with the entry mechanism and does not warrant that the entry mechanism will be available at all times.

23. Any Eligible Entrant who, in the opinion of the Promoter, tampers or interferes with the entry mechanism in any way, or who does not properly comply with the entry process, will be ineligible to win.

24. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify entries in the event of non-compliance with these terms and conditions of entry and the Promoter's decision in relation to any aspect of the Promotion is final and binding on each person who enters. No correspondence will be entered into.

25. By entering the Promotion, the entrant understands and agrees that the Promoter may use and disclose the information provided by the entrant on the terms and for the purposes (including marketing) set out in the Promoter’s Privacy Statement available at http://www.visitscandinavia.com.au/TermsAndConditions.aspx or by calling 02 9212 1332, as if they were a customer of the Promoter. The entrant agrees that the Promoter can continue to contact them even after this Promotion ends. If the entrant would like to access or correct the personal information that the Promoter holds about the entrant, or if the entrant does not wish the information to be disclosed, the entrant should advise the Promoter by phoning 02 9212 1332.

26. By entering into the Promotion, the entrant agrees and acknowledges that:(a) they may be contacted by the Promoter to provide comments about the competition and the Promoter (or an agent of the Promoter) may take photos of them;(b) the Promoter may use such comments and photos and the entrant's answer to the Entry Questions (the "Materials") for the Promoter's future promotional and marketing purposes without further reference or compensation to them;(c) the Promoter may duplicate, alter, adapt and utilise the Materials as the Promoter wishes at any time, anywhere, and by any means. The Promoter may license, authorise or otherwise transfer the rights in the Materials to others to do the same;(d) by entering the Promotion, they grant to the Promoter on creation of the Materials a royalty free, perpetual, exclusive and irrevocable license to use the Materials for whatever purpose;(e) they unconditionally and irrevocably consent to any act or omission that would otherwise infringe any of their moral rights in the Materials (as defined in Part IX of the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth)) and present and future rights of a similar nature conferred by statute anywhere in the world whether occurring before or after this consent is given ("Moral Rights");(f) they waive all Moral Rights in the Materials that arise outside Australia; and(g) they agree not to institute, maintain or support any claim or proceeding for infringement of their Moral Rights in the Materials.

27. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever (including but not limited to direct or consequential loss) or personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with this Promotion.
