Sami Easter festival

If you want to explore our unique Sami culture, the Easter festival in Kautokeino (in the Finnmark district of Norway) is a must visit. During Easter, you can experience the colourful Sami festive with concerts, reindeer and snowmobile race, films, theatre, exhibitions and plenty of outdoor activities.

The festival is a yearly event with historical traditions. Easter was traditionally the time of year when the Sami, from all over the Sami region, congregated in the reindeer capital Kautokeino. The end of a long, cold and dark winter was celebrated and one took part in the religious feasts and the high season of weddings.

The Easter festival takes place from April 6 to April 12.
