New tour: Follow the footsteps of Mikael Blomkvist and computer hacker Lisbeth Salander

February 2009

Stieg Larsson, the Swedish author finished three detective novels in his trilogy the Millenium-series; "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" (2005, UK release in January 2008), "The Girl Who Played With Fire", (2006, UK release in January 2009) and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest"/"Castles in the Sky" (working title) (2007, English title not confirmed, UK release in late autumn 2009) before his sudden death in 2004.

Stieg Larsson’s three Millennium books about journalist Mikael Blomkvist and computer hacker Lisbeth Salander have sold millions of copies and are on best-seller lists in Europe and the US. Recently the books have been made into a film and TV series, and will be shown internationally this spring (April-). The main characters in the books live and work on the island of ‘grungy’ Södermalm in Stockholm, and there is great interest in experiencing the atmosphere on location.

As a result, Stockholm City Museum has introduced Guided Millennium tours. Follow along in Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander’s footsteps. The tour starts at Bellmangatan 1 where Mikael Blomkvist lives and passes the Millennium editorial offices, Lisbeth Salander’s luxury apartment, and filming sites. The tours cost SEK 100 and are given every Saturday starting March 7, in English at 12 noon and in Swedish at 2 PM. The tour takes 1½-2 hours and tickets are available at the Stockholm City Museum. The museum also arranges group tours in French and Italian on request.
