New Geo-Museum by Faxe limestone quarry
In early summer 2009 a new geological exhibition is due to open at Geo-Museum in Faxe which is located on Zealand in Denmark. Those who go down into the quarry, find themselves on a 63 million year old seabed. At one time, sharks, giant crocodiles and squid swam among lovely coral. The remains of the coral, shark’s teeth, crab and mussel shells are among the many fossils held by the limestone. At the moment the museum consists of a cultural and historical exhibition, which tells the story of the experience of mining limestone through the last 900 years. On the border to Faxe limestone quarry you will find a new culture house with a Geo-museum, café-cinema and with a stunning view over the turquoise lake and white chalk of Faxe limestone quarry.

Riksgränsen in Swedish Lapland recently opened their 2009 season and will remain open until September. Riksgränsen is the world’s northernmost ski resort.
