Skeppsholmen

Skeppsholmen is an island that lies to the south of Östermalm, located in the east of Gamla Stan. It was a naval base in the past, but now home to the Modern Museum, the Photo Museum and the Architectural Museum. There is also a National Museum on the opposite side of the bridge on the northern bank.

Svaneholm Castle

A renaisance style castle along the E65 road. Built in 1530, it was renovated in the Venetian style in the 17th century. Houses a museum and the famous Svaneholms Gästgivargård restaurant, whose food has a great reputation (operates from April to December).

Dundret

A resort where you can enjoy outdoor activities all year round. Located almost in the centre of Lapland. They have a variety of trails that a lot of Alpine Ski National team uses for training before the start of their season.

Royal Palace Kungliga Slottet

This palace looks as if it is actually standing on the water. This is the place where Birger Jarl first built the castle, but the current building is of Dutch Renaissance style dating back to 1760. The palace has 608 rooms, but with the residential castle now located in Drottningholms Palace (Drottningholms Slott), this palace is only used on certain occasions, such as for entertaining state and public guests, and for housing diplomats. The King's working office is also located here.

Museum of Junibacken/Astrid Lindgen Junibacken

This museum was opened in 1996 on the seashore adjacent to Vasamuseum. The miniature world of fairytales written by Astrid Lindgren, one of the most notable fairytale writers in Sweden, has been recreated featuring the people and sceneries that appear in the books. In addition to the various exhibitions, the museum also has a children's playground, so a visit can be enjoyed by the entire family.

Parliament Riksdaghuset

A grey stonework building located in front of the Royal Palace on the island of Hergeandsholmen. It has served as the political centre since it was erected in 1905.

Lapland

In the Lapland region in the far north of Sweden, you can find the most vast, dramatic and spectacular untamed wilderness areas that Europe has to offer.

Luleå

The town's history dates back to the 17th century, and it prospered in iron-ore transportation and steel industry with the discovery of the Kiruna ore deposit in 1906. It is known more recently as the entrance to Lapland. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, "Gammelstad"(the old town) still bears original structures from the town that grew from the building of the church in 1649. You can't miss the Norrbotten museum which shows the history of the people and their lifestyle.

Access: By air, there are a few flights a day from Stockholm. 1 hour 15 minute flight. If you use the x2000 from Stockholm it takes 12 hours, 3 trains per day.

Östermalm

Östermalm is located north east of the Old Town. This is a residential quarter that attracts many high-class restaurants, expensive boutiques and antique shops. The large bustling indoor-market called Ostermalms hallarna and sightseeing spots such as Historical Museum, Ethnographical Museum cannot be missed. This area is lovely to walk around in, so if you are interested in design & architecture this is the down town area of Stockholm to check out.

Skåne District

The Skåne District located in the south of Sweden is a granary with tranquil pastoral hills. There are about 200 castles and mansions of the aristocracy within the beautiful green scenery. They are mostly privately owned but a few of the buildings and gardens are open to the public and a few are hotels. The ancient castles in the Skåne District are not as elaborate as other European castles but the way they blend with the rural scenery is quite picturesque.

Old Uppsala

'Gamla Uppsala' is a township outside Uppsala in Sweden. As early as the 3rd century AD it was an important religious, economic and political centre. Gamla Uppsala was well-known in Northern Europe as the residence of the Swedish kings of the legendary Yngling dynasty. During the Middle Ages, it was also the location of the Thing of all Swedes which was a thing (general assembly) held from pre-historic times to the Middle Ages. The mounts of the three kings, the Gamla Uppsala church and the Disagården open-air museum are the key highlights in this area.

Steninge Castle & Culture Centre

The Steninge Castle is located on the outskirts of Sigtuna and it is a beautiful baroque style architecture that is built in 1705. The culture centre which is located next to the castle has, among other interesting things, a glass workshop where you can experience glass blowing. Sometimes people also get married here.

History museum

The museum exhibitions Swedish relics from the early times to the Viking era and furniture and clothes from the Middle Ages. The museum holds a collection of more than 3, 000 pieces of jewellery, which is classified as national treasures, are stored in the Gold Room.

Riddarholm Church Riddarholmskyrkan

Located on the island of Ridarholmen, to the west of Gamla Stan, this building was built as a monastery in the 13th century. It was then turned into a Gothic church, and is now the burial place of every Swedish monarch since King Gustav 2 Adolf was buried here in 1634.
