The Opera House (Operan)

Called ‘Operan’ in Swedish is a historical theatre located on the southern bank of Norrmalm, facing Gamla Stan. It was originally built by Gustav III in the 18th century, but the current building was erected in Baroque style in the late 19th century.

Strindberg Museum Strindbergsmuseet

The Strindberg Museum is the house in which J.A. Strindberg (1849 to 1912), one of the greatest naturalist writers and playwrights of Sweden spent his twilight years. It is now open to the public as a museum. Some theatrical acts are also performed here.

Torup Castle

15km south east of Malmö. A 16th century castle in the middle of the forest. The castle has vines entwined around its brick walls, towers and a moat, and the interior and art collections are beautiful.

Nobel Museum

The Noble Museum is located in Gamla Stan, which is in the heart of Stockholm. The Nobel Museum is well worth a visit as you can learn about the rather involved Noble structure, prize winners and politics around receiving the prize. You also purchase and inspiring Nobel book at the museum’s gift shop.

Royal Palace Kungliga Slottet

This palace looks as if it is actually standing on the water. This is the place where Birger Jarl first built the castle, but the current building is of Dutch Renaissance style dating back to 1760. The palace has 608 rooms, but with the residential castle now located in Drottningholms Palace (Drottningholms Slott), this palace is only used on certain occasions, such as for entertaining state and public guests, and for housing diplomats. The King's working office is also located here.

Skeppsholmen

Skeppsholmen is an island that lies to the south of Östermalm, located in the east of Gamla Stan. It was a naval base in the past, but now home to the Modern Museum, the Photo Museum and the Architectural Museum. There is also a National Museum on the opposite side of the bridge on the northern bank.


Svaneholm Castle

A renaisance style castle along the E65 road. Built in 1530, it was renovated in the Venetian style in the 17th century. Houses a museum and the famous Svaneholms Gästgivargård restaurant, whose food has a great reputation (operates from April to December).

Dundret

A resort where you can enjoy outdoor activities all year round. Located almost in the centre of Lapland. They have a variety of trails that a lot of Alpine Ski National team uses for training before the start of their season.

Jukkasjarvi

The Saame village famous for its ice hotel. 17km east of Kiruna, a village located along the river where for 400 years the Saame people have operated their market. The ice hotel and ice art museum are located here. In the open-air museum, you can observe the lifestyle and culture of the ancient Saame people. There is a church built in 1608 in the heart of the village. Outdoor activities and Aurora watching is popular.

Karlstad
