Gustavsberg

Gustavsberg is a small yet historic town town 20km east of Stockholm. It is famous throughout the world for its china factory, which was founded in the year 1825. Vaxholm

Vaxholm is a small town, located in Stockholm's archipelago. It faces the sea and it is known as the "pearl of the archipelago". Vaxholm can be reached by boat, departing from Sjeppskajen in Stockholm. It is a beautiful one hour boat trip through Stockholm's picturesque archipelago. This town has cute wooden houses, a beautiful natural habitat and a great fortress museum. A Vaxholm visit is a great one day Stockholm excursion, especially in the summer.

Djurgården

Djurgården is an island lying sideways to Skeppsholmen, which belongs to the eastern side of Stockholm. The word Djurgården means "Animal Garden" in Swedish, and the name originated from the fact that King Karl XI designated this area as the royal hunting grounds in the late 17th century. This is a popular area for both tourists and locals. Here you can both enjoy a museum visit as well as relaxing picnic in the park.


Sandhamn

Sandhamn is one of the more popular islands in the Stockholm archipelago. In the summer time Sandhamn offer plenty do from sailing and fishing to shopping and eating. Sandhamn is a great resort in the summer. From Stockholm, there is a one-way 3-hour canal tour every day during the summer. Day trips are also recommended.

Drottningholm Royal Theatre

The Royal Theatre was built in 1766 to celebrate the birth of Gustav III. It was used as a storehouse after Gustav III was assassinated in 1792, but was later restored at the turn of the 20th century. The theatre is now used for opera and other performances during the summer.

The Islands of Fjäderholmarna

These islands called 'Fjäderholmarna', are about 25 minutes from Stockholm by commuter boat, and it is the closest archipelago island from the city. On the island, you can find glass products and textiles by young emerging designers. You can even participate in pottery workshops. The open-air theater is very popular during the summer. The famous designer hotel "Hotel J" is also located in this area at Nacka Strand, the middle stop along the commuter boat line.
