National Museum
The National Museum is housed in a white three-storey stone building overlooking the sea. It is the largest museum in Sweden and was founded in 1792 as a Royal Gallery, containing art works collected by Gustav Vasa. It showcases collections dating from the 15th century down to the present day, including 12.500 paintings, 500.000 drawings & sketches and 30.000 items of silverware and furniture. At this museum can find work by most well known Swedish artists such as Carl Larsson and Torsten Palm. It also features a large collection of works by French artists due to Sweden’s royal affiliation with the country
