Jukkasjarvi

The Saame village famous for its ice hotel. 17km east of Kiruna, a village located along the river where for 400 years the Saame people have operated their market. The ice hotel and ice art museum are located here. In the open-air museum, you can observe the lifestyle and culture of the ancient Saame people. There is a church built in 1608 in the heart of the village. Outdoor activities and Aurora watching is popular.

Canned Goods Museum

This museum is the world's only canned goods museum in which you can experience the canning operation of the past, diverted from the remains of what was formerly an oil sardine factory.

Lofoten House Gallery

Also called Galleri Lofotens Hus, showcases around 40 pieces that were painted during the golden age of Norwegian oil paintings, from the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. At the gallery you can also pay a virtual visit to Lofoten's four seasons.

Nidaros Cathedral (Nidarosdomen)

Nidaros Cathedral was constructed to be the tomb of the Viking king, Olav Tryggvasson (Saint Olav). Located in the centre of the city, this is where all successive Norwegian kings have carried out coronation festivities. In front of the Cathedral's west side is a brilliant statue that has been recently restored. Many features of the Cathedral are still preserved, including a gorgeous coronation crown, the courtly Johannes Kapellet, Saint Olav's altar and a beautifully decorated baroque organ.

Royal Palace (Det Kongelige Slott)

The royal palace was completed in 1848 for the royal family, but it was built by Karl Johan XIV

National Theater (Nationaltheatret)

The National Theatre is the largest in the country and has a history of over 100 years. Guided tours are available but reservations are necessary.

Nyhavn

The port of Nyhavn was established in combination with the expansion of the urban area in the 17th century. Back then, the hustle and bustle of the arrivals of cargo was everywhere, and the area was very vibrant. It is also famous for being the place that Andersen loved and chose to live in. Currently, it is a sightseeing area with a lot of restaurants.


Fredensborg Castle

The Fredensborg Castle is still used as the summer house of the royal family. The large-scale painting that extends from the wall to the roof is based on the legend of the Trojan War.

Royal Palace Kungliga Slottet

This palace looks as if it is actually standing on the water. This is the place where Birger Jarl first built the castle, but the current building is of Dutch Renaissance style dating back to 1760. The palace has 608 rooms, but with the residential castle now located in Drottningholms Palace (Drottningholms Slott), this palace is only used on certain occasions, such as for entertaining state and public guests, and for housing diplomats. The King's working office is also located here.

Royal Theater (Det Kongelige Teater)

A theatre located to the south of Kongens Nytorv, and adjacent to Charlottenborg palace. It is separated into an old stage and new stage, and alternately stages ballets and operas.

Jiebmaluokta

Jiebmaluokta are ruins of the Komsa Kulturen that was accidentally discovered in 1973. It is registered as a World Heritage Site, featuring approximately 3000 wall paintings. It is divided into seven stages, ranging in height from 8m to 26.5m, and is estimated to be between 6500 and 2500 years old. You can see the wall paintings within the premises of the Alta museum.

Museum of Junibacken/Astrid Lindgen Junibacken

This museum was opened in 1996 on the seashore adjacent to Vasamuseum. The miniature world of fairytales written by Astrid Lindgren, one of the most notable fairytale writers in Sweden, has been recreated featuring the people and sceneries that appear in the books. In addition to the various exhibitions, the museum also has a children's playground, so a visit can be enjoyed by the entire family.

Parliament Riksdaghuset

A grey stonework building located in front of the Royal Palace on the island of Hergeandsholmen. It has served as the political centre since it was erected in 1905.

Norwegian Folk Museum (Norsk Folkemuseum)

The Open-Air Museum features 155 authentic buildings from different national regions, i.e. Gol Stave Church, from the 13th century. At the museum you can experience and learn about traditional Norwegian culture and history.
