Lofotr Borg Viking Museum

This is a unique museum located in Borg in the Lofoten Islands. Here you can gain firsthand experience of the Viking era. It is located 55km from Svolvær on route E10, and 14km from Leknes.

Kautokeino

Kautokeino is a Sami village that has a population of approximately 3000 people, one third of whom are reindeer breeders. Kautokeino means "open land that bristles with sedge from the forest" in Sami. Since this is a permanent home for the Sami people during the winter, it has educational facilities, such as a reindeer breeding school and a Sami craft school. in addition to other facilities that cannot be found in other regions of Norway, such as the Sami research institute. Many of the tours here also feature rather unique themes, including downstream rides on Sami boats, visits to Sami tents, and reindeer riding during the winter season.


National Gallery

The National Gallery is Norway's largest gallery that showcases a collection of national and international art works, including 1900 sculptures and 40, 000 block prints and line-drawings. This is a must-see gallery as it exhibits Munch's main pieces, such as "The Scream" and "Madonna".

The New Fortress Museum

The New Fortress Museum at Vaxholm citadel was officially opened by the King of Sweden in 2003 and is the Swedish armed forces largest museum. The museum's aim is to describe the history of Sweden's coastal defense with special attention given to the development of the archipelago's defenses over 500 years.

Cathedral Storkyrkan

Storkyrkan is a cathedral with a high tower standing behind the Royal Palace (Kungliga Slottet.) Dating back in 1279, it is the oldest church in Stockholm. After undergoing many renovations over the years, the interior is currently in the late Gothic style and the exterior Baroque.

Dagfinn Bakke's Gallery

The Dagfinn Bakke’s Gallery is a private gallery owned by the painter, illustrator and graphic artist Dagfinn Bakke. He lives and works in the Lofoten Islands, north of the Arctic Circle in northern Norway. Dagfinn Bakke has had exhibitions in a number of different countries, and his works are on display at many public art galleries, including the Norwegian National Gallery. The artwork can also be purchased.

Leksand culture museum

Leksand is been introduced thought exhibits of national paintings, costumes and slide shows of this district. The museum also has a library.

Uppsala Cathedral

The Uppsala Cathedral goes back to 1719. It was here the King of Sweden held coronation ceremonies. King Gustav Vasa, who led Sweden to independence, and botanist Carl von Linne are buried here. You can view the Uppsala Cathedral from the high tower on the neighbouring Uppsala castle.

Kabelvåg

Kabelvag is the name of Lofoten’s aquarium. It makes full use of the natural environment and displays around 23 types of unusual fish and seals that live in the Arctic Ocean.

Vigeland Museum (Vigeland-museet)

The Vingeland Museum contains Norway's finest sculptor collections. This museum also has a great café and museum shop.

German church Tyska Kyrkan

A baroque building located almost in the centre of Gamla Stan. It was built by the Finns in the middle of the 16th century as a guildhall, but was later converted into a church by a German merchant.

Viking Ship Museum

This museum exhibits 5 Viking ships from around year 1000. They were uncovered in 1962 at Roskilde Bay. From the cafeteria inside the museum, you can enjoy the beautiful landscape of the Roskilde Fjord over a meal.

Honningsvåg

Hoonningsvåg village is the access point to Nordkapp. The village bustles during the summer period with tourists who wish to catch a glimpse of the midnight sun. It takes approximately 45 min by bus to reach Nordkapp. Since this village is especially blessed with prime fishing banks, many fishing boats dock at Honningsvåg’s harbour.

Access: Approximately 2 hours 10 minutes from Tromso by plane (1 - 3 flights operates daily). 25 minutes from Hammerfest (1 to 3 flights operates daily). It takes approximately 5 hours from Hammerfest, with a transfer at Oldefjord if you choose to go by buss. (1-2 busses departs daily, only during the winter season). Approximately 2 hours 10 minutes from Hammerfest by high-speed boat. (1 departure a day from early August to late October)
