Møn

Møn is an island in south-eastern Denmark. It is connected to Jutland with a bridge. Møn is known for its natural beauty, good beaches, fresco-decorated churches, Stone Age and Bronze Age passage graves and monuments, chateau Liselund, and Møns Klint ("The White Cliffs of Møn"), the island's most popular attraction. The main town of Mon is Stege and this town was established in the middle of the 13th century.

Sandefjord

Sandefjord is small town in the south of Norway, located 120km from Oslo and 20km from Larvik. It was an important trading zone during the Viking period that supported entire generations with whale hunting. Today Sandefjord is home to Europe's only whale hunting museum where you can learn about the whale hunting around the world. The museum displays a life size model of the world’s largest whale, the blue whale. During summer, Norwegians from all parts of the country come to Sandefjord to live the good life by the sea. The coastline offers a wide variety of sandy beaches and islets. The Sandefjord Torp Airport is one of Oslo's international airports, and there is a bus that goes to Sandefjord Airport from Oslo City which takes approximately 2 hours.

Maritime Museum (Norsk Sjøfartsmuseum)

The Norwegian Maritime Museum is in a fantastic location, right on the edge of the Oslo Fjord. The museum features a great panorama film "The ocean – a way of life" that takes the audience on a cruise along the Norwegian coast. Visitors can watch this visual sea voyage all year around.

The Hans Christian Andersen Parade

A performance with 35 of Andersen's characters that appear in his particularly famous fairytales. It is carried out every day during the summer in a park behind the Andersen Museum.

Tour to a Deserted Eskimo Village

This boat trip takes you to Stephensen Harbour and the closed village of Niaqornat. Here you will be guided through an Eskimo village in Tuttutooq which is located on an island near Narsaq (southern part of Greenland) and learn the history and architecture of the Eskimos. Lunch and a guided tour is included in the prize.

The National Museum of Art, Architecture & Design

The new museum is a merging of the previously autonomous institutions The National Gallery, The National Museum of Contemporary Art, The Museum of Decorative Arts and Design, The Norwegian Museum of Architecture, and The National Touring Exhibitions, Norway. Well worth a visit for visitors with an interest in art and design.

King Hakon's Chateau (Hakonshallen)

The King Hakon is a chateau built by King Hakon Hakonsson between 1247 and 1267. At that time, Bergen was Norway's capitall. This chateau was used as the house of the royal family.

Bornholm

Bornholm is a Danish island in the Baltic Sea, located to the east of Denmark, the south of Sweden, and the north of Poland. Its principal town is Rønne. The main industries on the island include fishing, arts and crafts like glass making and pottery using locally worked clay, and dairy farming. Bicycling around on the island is a popular activity to do in the summer. You can also enjoy yachting, fishing and golf. Highlights include: Hammershus Castle ruins (Hammershus Ruiner), Bornholm Museum, and Østerlars Church (Østerlars Kirke).

Skansen Open Air Museum

Skansen was built in 1891 in an attempt to best utilize a hill on the western side of Djurgården. Skansen is the world's first open air museum and the idea behind this museum originally came from a Swedish folklorist named A.Hazelius who wished to preserve traditional architecture and lifestyles of various Swedish regions of the country for later generations. The museum contains about 140 furnished and decorated houses of different types and artefacts collected from different parts of the country. Here you can watch craftsmen working with textiles, ceramics, glass blowing and other types of handicrafts. You can even try freshly baked bread. Here you can also experience Swedish traditional events, such as the midsummer festival and Christmas celebrations.

Lindholm Hoeje Viking cemetery (Lindholm Hoje)

North of Nørresundby lies Lindholm Høje, with nearly 700 graves dating from the Iron Age and the Viking era. Most of the graves which have been excavated contained ashes; the dead were burned, together with their burial objects, and then interred in a grave marked with a stone. The old gravestones are triangular, the later ones round or oval. Upright stones in the form of ships date from the Viking period. This is one of the largest Viking graveyards in Northern Europe.

Vasa Museum (Vasamuseet)

This museum is located on the north-western bank of Djurgården, behind the Nordiska Museet when heading from Östermalm. The Vasa, which measures 68m in length, 11.3m in width and 52m in height, was probably the largest battleship of her time, but she was sunk by a strong gust of wind shortly after setting out on her maiden voyage on August 10, 1628. The ship was left at the bottom of the sea for more than 300 years, but was salvaged in 1961 and was then displayed in a temporary museum until 1988. The present museum was opened in 1990. This ship is a must-see.
