Carl Larssonsgården

The house where Carl Larssonsgården spent the last years of his life is a 30 minute bus drive from Falun. Larssonsgården was a painter who used family as a motif and painted bright pastoral paintings, popular also in Japan. In the Carl Larssonsgården mansion it is possible to see the interior and his work as it was.

Hadeland Glass factory (Hadeland Glassverk)

Hadeland Glass is Norway's oldest glass factory and it was founded in 1762. It is located in a town called Jevnaker, which is about an hour's drive from Oslo. Not only can you observe the glassmakers at work, you can also try it your self. The largest glass museum in Scandinavia is also located here and glass products can be purchased from four outlet stores.

Denmark Design Center

Teaches the industrial design and general design of Denmark, and bears a gallery in its basement where three types of exhibitions are held on a full-time basis. The cafeteria is also very popular.

The National Radio Symphony Orchestra

The National Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Radio Light Orchestra hold performances at the Radio House Concert Hall, located in the west region of the city. In addition, pop music concerts can be attended at the Circus Hall in the urban district. Recitals from classical music to folk music frequently take place at churches and other areas.


Moesgard Prehistory Museum

The Moesgard Prehistory Museum contains archaeological collections from Denmark and from excavations carried out in Bahrain and other places in the Persian Gulf region. It is a museum of local history and a speciality museum in the areas of archaeology and ethnography. The 2000 year old carbonized body, Grauballemand, which is preserved in a glass case, is a must-see.

Darlanas Museum

A wide range of national costumes, handicrafts and paintings of the Darlana District are on display. The study room of the author Selma Lagerlof, author of "The Wonderful Adventures of Nils" and a resident of Falun for 26 years, has also been recreated for display.

Glass Factory-Kosta

Sweden's oldest Glass Factory. There is an exhibition room (open from April to September) and restaurants. In summertime, the "Hyttsillsafton" is held. The heat from the glass-melting furnace is used to cook sill (salted herring), potatoes, sausages and cakes for a great feast. Very popular among tourists.

The Nobel Museum in Karlskoga

The Alfred Nobel museum in Karlskoga is on the outskirts of Karlstad. The house where he spent the latter part of his life is also located here, and you can view his research work.

North Norway Artist Centre (Nordnorsk Kunstnersenter)

The North Norway Artist Centre is an art space managed by working artists. The centre arranges around 10 exhibitions a year. You can purchase artwork from the centre.

Troldhaugen

The house of Edvard Grieg, the composer from Bergen, is located 20 minutes from the city by car. Although Grieg once fell out of favor with Bergen and left the city, he retuned in 1885 and lived in the house for 22 years until his death. Troldhaugen means "the hill where the troll lives". From this hill that overlooks the fjord, Grieg composed a number of piano pieces. The house also has a café and a concert hall named "Troldsalen"
