Concerts

The Oslo Concert Hall mainly showcases performances by the Phil harmonia and the Oslo Phil harmonia, but they also hosts musicians from around the world. Tickets and programs can be found at Oslo Tourist Agency's site. Tickets can also be bought online.

North Norway Artist Centre (Nordnorsk Kunstnersenter)

The North Norway Artist Centre is an art space managed by working artists. The centre arranges around 10 exhibitions a year. You can purchase artwork from the centre.

Troldhaugen

The house of Edvard Grieg, the composer from Bergen, is located 20 minutes from the city by car. Although Grieg once fell out of favor with Bergen and left the city, he retuned in 1885 and lived in the house for 22 years until his death. Troldhaugen means "the hill where the troll lives". From this hill that overlooks the fjord, Grieg composed a number of piano pieces. The house also has a café and a concert hall named "Troldsalen"

St. Jorgens Hospital

This hospital treated leprosy patients from the latter half of the medieval period. There is a leprosy museum (Lepra-museet) on its premises that stores the research papers of the Norwegian doctor, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who dedicated his life to the extermination of leprosy.

Hadeland Glass factory (Hadeland Glassverk)

Hadeland Glass is Norway's oldest glass factory and it was founded in 1762. It is located in a town called Jevnaker, which is about an hour's drive from Oslo. Not only can you observe the glassmakers at work, you can also try it your self. The largest glass museum in Scandinavia is also located here and glass products can be purchased from four outlet stores.

The Old City

The old city of Stavnager is the largest old city in Northern Europe where rows of well-preserved wooden houses can be found. Almost all houses were constructed between the 18th and 19th century, and you can experience what it was like back then.


Bodø

Bodo is a commercial city with a population of approximately 44, 000 people. The city has a railway station, coastal steamer harbour, and an airport, making it a strategic spot for transportation in northern Norway. It is also the gateway to the Lofoten islands, located on its opposite shore, from mainland Norway.


Andenes

Andenes is a small fishing village in the county of Nordland, which is part of the northern region of Norway. Andenes is the northernmost settlement of the island Andøya. To the east is the island Senja, and to the west the endless horizon of the North Atlantic. Andøy municipality calls itself Nordlyskommunen (The community of the Aurora Borealis).


Å

Å is located virtually in the southernmost point of Lofoten. It is also the end-point of the European roadway. Here you’ll find an atmosphere that hearkens back to the days when life revolved around the cod fishery.

Also called Det Naturhistorisk Museum, is a museum with three sections featuring plants, geology and animals.
