North Norway Artist Centre (Nordnorsk Kunstnersenter)

The North Norway Artist Centre is an art space managed by working artists. The centre arranges around 10 exhibitions a year. You can purchase artwork from the centre.

Troldhaugen

The house of Edvard Grieg, the composer from Bergen, is located 20 minutes from the city by car. Although Grieg once fell out of favor with Bergen and left the city, he retuned in 1885 and lived in the house for 22 years until his death. Troldhaugen means "the hill where the troll lives". From this hill that overlooks the fjord, Grieg composed a number of piano pieces. The house also has a café and a concert hall named "Troldsalen"

Concerts

The Oslo Concert Hall mainly showcases performances by the Phil harmonia and the Oslo Phil harmonia, but they also hosts musicians from around the world. Tickets and programs can be found at Oslo Tourist Agency's site. Tickets can also be bought online.

Saami Museum (Samid Vuorka Davvirat)

The Sami Museum exhibits various aspects of the Sami culture. The museum concentrates on the history, culture, industry, and craftwork of the Sami people, and it also exhibits Sami people’s tent and mountain huts.

Theatres & Operas

Large theatre productions are mainly staged at the National Theatre, which is also the home of Norway's national theatre group. The Ibsen festival, held every two years, is a major event that gathers theatre groups from all around the worlds to compete against each other with Ibsen pieces. Operas and ballets are performed in the National Opera House.
