Fjords

Fjords cannot be overlooked when speaking of the beauty of Norway. The western coast of Norway is the fjord area where the coastline forms into a dazzlingly complex pattern.

Cruising is the most common way of enjoying the impressive cliffs, with glaciers hovering at the top, although hiking and trekking trips through this unique natural wonderland while staying overnight at villages are also recommended.

The four main fjords are Geirangerfjord, Sognefjord, Hardangerfjord and Lysefjord, each offering unique scenery. The gateway to the fjords is a town which, under the name of Hanza, flourished as a harbor town in the middle ages; but that is nowadays known as Bergen.

Welcome to Norway’s fjords!
