Denmark

Denmark is a small country made up of the Jutland Peninsula and over 500 islands with an abundance of places to visit. Hans Christian Andersen, the literary genius behind some of the world's most famous fairy tales, grew up in the town of Odense in Fyn. Christmas in Fantasy World – Zealand

Denmark’s latest indoor attraction, Fantasy World in Holme-Olstrup, will open a brand new cowboy city on the 24th of November 2007, housing the Christmas market: “Christmas in the Wild West”. Beyond the Christmas shopping opportunities, the market has a variety of fun fair rides and attractions, a cowboy fort, horse drawn carriages and restaurants.

Tivoli Christmas Market

The Tivoli Christmas market in Copenhagen is a must during the winter season. The atmosphere is much like that of a small carnival, filled with the pungent smells of ginger cookies and glögg, Christmas carols and Danish arts & crafts. Linger over a traditional meal or indulge in a quick pick-me-up at one of its restaurants -try Michelin starred The Paul, Café Ketchup, Fregatten or Ultimo

Ilulissat

Ilulissat is the third largest settlement in Greenland and situate about 200 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle. Illulisat also means "The Icebergs” and is Greenland's most popular tourist destination. At its eastern end is the Jakobshavn Isbræ glacier which is the most productive glacier in the northern hemisphere. The glacier flows at a rate of 20-35 metres per day, resulting in around 20 billion tonnes of icebergs calved off and passing out of the fjord every year. The Ilulissat Icefjord was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004. In the summer, you can catch the "Midnight Cruise" under the midnight sun (end of May - end of July). You can also enjoy activates such ice hiking to the "Ice Fjord," dog sledding and glacier cruises.

Disko Bay

Also called Qasigiannguit and is located south of Ilulissat Isfjord (Ice Fjord). It is a completely unspoilt district in a striking natural area and is known as the green heart of Disko Bay. The area is characterised by warm summers (up to 27c) Disco Bay is ideal for hiking in the summer time, with gentle hills, tundra plains, green passes, blue fjords and mountain tops. The dog sled season starts as early as December. From July to October you can enjoy whale spotting.
